I am not going to survive this week.
Colby started school on Tuesday, and it was horrid. I won't go into all the horrible details because I am afraid I will get trashed for sending him back for a second day.
Yesterday was the second day, and it was better. I felt a little tiny bit of relief, a little bit of, "Every place has bad days, maybe yesterday was just one of those bad days."
Today, I had to go and pick up Elizabeth from school and then come back to work, because both my bosses have a meeting this afternoon.
So while I was out, I thought I would drive by and get a peek of what Colby was doing, see if I might catch him having fun, or being abused. You know, SpyParenting.
Bad. Idea.
Apparently kids Colby's age can recognize cars from a good distance.
I stopped for a moment in front of his building - there is not much traffic on that street - and searched for his little pelican shirt. And like magic, it suddenly appeared, below the "O" of his joyous little mouth, right in front of me...
As I pulled the corner out of sight, ducking, my last image was of him throwing his body repeatedly against the window, while screaming and boring holes into my heart with his little broken-hearted eyes.
And all I could do was drive away.
It is going to be a really long hour.
