What? I am sorry, let me get my head out of my ass

Yesterday, I decide to do something really nice. I tell my boss I am leaving for a few minutes and I surprised Elizabeth with an impromptu trip to Sonic for Ice Cream.

Unfortunately, I rammed the the little menu pole in my car.

I was so mortified and mad. This conversation ensued:

Mom: Oh shit. I can't believe I just did that. Dammit!

Elizabeth: Mom, you are cussing.

Mom: I know. I am sorry. I just broke the car.

Elizabeth: you need to get out and see how bad the car is broke.

Mom: No I don't. (as I push the button to order my ice cream)

Elizabeth: Mom!! you do too!! What if your headlight is broken?

Mom: It is broken, I can see the pieces on the ground.
Then, into the speaker: Yes, I need a regular Hot Fudge Brownie Blast and a regular Root Beer Float.

Elizabeth: Mom!! You really need to get out and look at the car. That is what people do when they wreck their cars. And you might want to call the police.

Mom: HAHAHAHAHAHA!! I am NOT calling the police. I wonder when our ice cream will get here?

Obviously, I finally had to look at it.

I feel like a complete idiot. I wish I could say that I wasn't paying attention, but I was... It was like that pole just jumped out in front of me. I feel like a dumb teenager, or a really old person who doesn't need to drive anymore...

And Marty yelling at me made me feel deaf, too...
